"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
At Lithelight, we are dedicated to bringing a new spark into the lives of visually challenged communities. Our mission is to take them out of their comfort zones and empower them to overcome obstacles and light up the path for others. Our team is committed to providing services that enhance the lives of visually challenged individuals and create opportunities for them to thrive. We believe that with the right support, visually challenged individuals can lead fulfilling lives and make valuable contributions to society.
Lit the Light Trust wasn't born overnight. It started with a spark – a vision ignited by S.N. Barath in 2012. Hailing from a humble background, Barath understood the transformative power of education. Witnessing a visually impaired student score 960 in their class 12 board exams after attending reading sessions for a year became a turning point. It was a stark reminder that even small acts of support can empower individuals to achieve great things.
Barath's vision, however, wouldn't have become a reality without collaboration. In 2014, he joined forces with like-minded colleagues, Ramkumar and Ravikant, to formally establish Lit the Light as a volunteer group. Since then, the organization has grown exponentially, attracting over 2,000 volunteers every year who share our passion for empowering the visually impaired.
Today, Lit the Light Trust stands tall as a registered non-profit organization, officially recognized by the Tamil Nadu government in 2017. But our core values remain unchanged. We are a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to creating a brighter future for visually impaired individuals.
Here's a glimpse into what makes us unique:
S. N. Barath, the driving force behind Lit the Light, embodies the spirit of Joe DiMaggio's quote: "A person always doing his or her best becomes a natural leader, just by example."
Hailing from the village of Arasampatti in Krishnagiri district, Barath isn't just a dedicated leader; he's also a skilled professional. By day, he leads a team as a Mechanical Engineer in a Chennai-based engineering services company. But his true passion lies in making a difference. Lit the Light, his brainchild, is a testament to this unwavering commitment.
Barath didn't embark on this journey alone. He ignited the spark with a group of like-minded volunteers, proving that even a single person's vision, coupled with a collaborative spirit, can illuminate the path for others.
